Tripping or slipping over is a very common accident that can cause both minor and major injuries and can occur in a variety of situations. An example could be if you were visiting a cinema and you slipped over on a wet floor.
Claims can be made against individuals or organisations. If you have suffered an accident similar to the example described above then you could claim compensation against a third party who may have either been responsible for the area where the accident took place or who's negligence dirrectly caused the accident to occur.
When dealing with claims against a local highway authority, judges will more often than not hesitate to criticise an authority for damages caused where the height of the hazard whether that be paving stones or a damaged road is less than one inch. As long as the authorities are seen to have taken steps to monitor and the surfaces under their care, then it unlikely that your claim will be successful .There have been exeptions however and you should always seek advise on your claim from professionals before making any decision.
When accidents occur on public or private property the owner/occupier of the property is legally responsible for the safety of indivudals who are visiting that property. If an accident occurs whilst you are on the premises and was caused by a failure on their part to take reasonable steps to ensure your safety then you could be entitled to claim compensation.
If you have suffered an injury and feel that you should be entitled to claim compensation then you should seek expert advice
